Philips Matchline TV Remote Control - Corroded Battery Terminals

This is another view of the PCB with the corroded negative battery terminal.
In most electronics it is always the negative battery terminal that gets corroded because the negative terminal of the battery is the zinc case of the battery itself. As the battery get used, the zinc case gets thinner and may even have microscopic holes created in them. Improperly sealed batteries will then cause the corrosive battery fluid to leak out.
