Removing four small Philips screws separate the two halves of the torch nicely.
( Note: On hindsight, its is better to lift off the side with the on/off switch button rather than the side where the screws are removed. This will prevent some of the nylon gears from falling out. )
The side with the on/off switch button is on the left of the picture, make of good quality plastic and silver coated with a metallic finish.
The other half actually contains all the necessary electronics circuits, the gear drive chain and the DC motor( use as a generator ). You can actually see the small grey gear of the motor coupling to the final gear( large white tooth gear ) in the chain.
