Fire Hazard From Loose Fuse In Power Plug

This is the inside of the plug. Note the molten and charred plastic around the live terminal of the fuse holder. The electric plug is made of a softer plastic than the electic socket, hence the melting.
Notice that the wires are crimped onto the terminals. This is actually stronger and more reliable than using screws to fasten the wires as is normally found in plugs bought off the shelf.
Unfortunately for this plug, the weakest link is in the fuse holder, although it is likey that tampering is the cause of the fuse coming loose.
