This is rotor assembly of the Home Proud Fan that has stopped spinning. It seems that the grease that is packed into the bearing has caked up. This is possibly one of the cause of why the fan stop spinning.
The synchronous motor coil windings( picture not available ) were also a little blacking where the wire terminations are wrapped with lacquered sleevings, showing some degree of high heat in the motor.
Low cost home electric fans usually have the power cables from the electronic speed control board terminated and joined directly to the field coil windings of the motor - saving the cost of a terminal block and assembly cost. However it is suspected that such termination often cause fan failure as the high heat generated caused the insulation material to carbonised.
