Wearnes VCD CD MP3 Player - An Inside Look

Wearnes VCD CD MP3 Player called it quits ( the CD Tray refuse to open ).

The unit can power up and the LCD backlit is lighted but there are no message of any kind on the display.

I spent the next 4 hours taking it apart and documenting the parts on camera.

A quick diagnosis shows that the CD tray motor is turning, the belt is good and the power supply voltages are all OK. Failure points to the system control electronics. This VCD player is largely obsoleted as DVD player nowadays play VCD and CDs and MP3 recorded CD as well. The unit is relatively heavy at about 3kg.
