The rear cover of the steam iron is first removed (just one screw) to exposed the main electrical connections. The blue object is the motion sensor switch. This switch of the iron if no motion is detected after a while and is a nice safety feature. Helps to prevent burnt clothes or ironing board and also to save electricity for forgetful users. The electrical connections are made with easy to remove but firm crimped on connectors.
