Pioneer DV-535K DVD Player Laser Optics Assembly

The laser optics assembly shown here is actually where the DVD disc is placed when playing.

Like most modern day electronics, this is a module usually subcontracted out to a specialised manufacturer before being assembled in another factory or production line to make the complete DVD player.

This assmebly contains motor for opening/closing the disc tray, spinning the disc. The laser optics assembly is mounted here and is control by a small motor that moves it along precsion guide rails. When you fast forward or backward and during normal playing, the optics assembly will be moving back and forth along the guide rail. All these details are not shown in the picture here as it involves dismantling a working DVD player and I am not to keen to kill a perfectly healthy machine.
