This end of the PCB is modified to resuse the Tape Deck switch. This switch is now use to on or off the LED. Note the enamelled wire running to the other side of the PCB. The second connection to the Joule thief from the switch uses one of the existing printed circuit connection.
The ultra bright blue LED can be seen mounted on a small rectangular piece of plastic removed from a old 9v battery and connected to the PCB using the existing PCB position vacated by the infra red LED.
